Outfit's/Make-up/Hair 2

Due to serious traffic and a tight schedule the fourth dancer was not able to be photographed however, the others have had their outfits and hair and make up photographed. As shown, the dancers had matching outfits: pink skater skirts, white short sleeved tops and white converse shoes. Gracie the artist wore a strawberry print denim playsuit with white converses too. Everyone's hair looked pretty and their make up precise, all had black eye-liner on to define their eyes and add a similarity linking them all as a team.

Where will my video be shown?

Gracie Everett is a new, young pop artist. There are hundreds of pop artist already in the industry however, Gracie's vocals, look and enthusiasm for the industry is one of a kind. I plan to stream her music on television and on the internet.

Television channels such as MTV and 4music are perfect for my pop genred artist as they already stream other artists and bands of similar genres including RnB, Rap and Soul. Also on television is the popular musical-comedy-drama programme, Glee which pick up on all of the new hits and Gracie would fit in with this.

According to Wikipedia, Youtube is the third most popular website. Alexa Internet ranks websites on a combined measure of unique site users and page views. Due to the publicity on Youtube, Gracie Everett will be streamed on here, I also plan to have a vevo account set up for Gracie. Vevo a joint venture music video website owned and operated by Universal Music Group, Google, Sony Music Entertainment, and Abu Dhabi Media. As she is a new artist I want to hit the audience with the maximum publicity I can which means using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Inspiration

Thinking about different shots and styles to incorporate in my music video has been difficult as you have to keep the audience interested. I have been inspired by a couple of shots from a couple of videos.

One inspiration was Cara Delevinge's 'Valentine's Day' video. To include similar shots like this would carry sexual connotations but I believe the flirty behaviour is fine for the target audience. I have filmed in a bedroom and end with Gracie crawling towards the camera and hope to put a fade out as the music fades too.

The below screen shot is a dance sequence used in Ariana Grande's music video, Baby I. As my genre is pop it is conventional to choreograph some movements which are catchy and easy to remember for the audience so they can learn it and join in.

Another dance sequence is performed by Selena Gomez and her dancers on a YouTube channel, her dance is a little more sexual than I intend for mine but I want to make sure our dance is timed precisely and performed in unison like theirs - whilst having fun with it. They are shots of them afterwards singing along together which I have incorporated a short clip of the dancers singing along towards the end of my music video.

Past Music Videos

Ariana Grande's previous music videoes have several locations. I counted each location in three of her music videoes so I could have an idea of how many I should be using.

The Way ft Mac Miller = 3 locations
Baby I = 8 locations
Right There ft Big Sean = 9 locations

So far the locations I can confirm are ...

  1. Bedroom
  2. Studio
  3. Dance Studio (Dance)
  4. Dance Studio (Just Gracie - Balloon scene and Sequin scene)
  5. Theatre (Dance)

Ellie Goulding - Burn (Genre: Pop)

This is a wide angled close up of the artist, Ellie Goulding. The sun is lighting her from behind creating a bright glow surrounding her face. She is wearing a black jacket with a gold necklace and looks fashionable which is important as she is considered an idol to her fans. Her hair and make up has been done professionally and she looks good which makes her desirable to her fans. This shot is fairly quick and the only lyric at this point is 'we'. She is not using direct mode of address therefore not fully engaging with the audience.
This is an establishing shot and a wide angled long shot. We can see this is on a runway at an airport. She is walking slowly along the white stripe, the centred shot makes it look like she is walking a runway. She is wearing the same clothing and we can see that her stomach is covered by a transparent black mesh, this is fashionable and modern suiting the era and genre.
Initially I thought Goulding was on stage right now, her back is to the camera suggesting she is not the most significant at the moment but also now we can see a silohuette of her which looks modern and cool against the spot lights. However, now it has become clear that this is the runway at night and the lights are the pilots guidance of where to land. She is using this location a lot for different scenes, this isn't conventional for a pop video but the change of lighting and added people works.

The lyrics here are 'we can light it up, up, up' and as she is singing the lanterns on the ground are lighting up in cannon. She is holding a pink smoke stick which is creating the pink glow, pink is associated with love and passion which can relate to her lyrics as if her love is going to burn up because of it's intensity. This is a wide angled medium shot in order to show all of the lanterns lit. Goulding is wearing a cardigan, crop top and shorts, they look pink too but that could be the light.

Selena Gomez - Come and Get It (Genre: Pop)

This is an establishing shot so the audience can identify where the artist, Selena is. This is a high angled extreme long shot (ECU), the setting is a large lavender field with a background of mountains. The title of this song is 'come and get it' and this is repeated throughout but judging by how isolated she is this may be quite impossible. Selena is wearing a long black dress which stands out against the shades of green and purple. She is not centred in the frame but because she stands out so easily you don't need to look far to find her.
This is a blurred mid-close up of Selena, the effect looks like inside of a kaleidoscope, maybe used to create a dizzy effect on the audience. The shot is intriguing and makes the audience concentrate. Selena is wearing a red dress now - several outfit changes are conventional in pop videos - red is associated with lust and passion. The rest of the dancers are in nude outfits making Selena stand out and so you focus on her. She is using direct mode of address to connect with the audience.
There is a dance sequence incorporated into the music video, these are again very conventional in pop videos. They are all in unison creating a stronger impact and look. By filming on a beach it is very exotic and the different locations contrast allowing for a bigger memorable video. Again she is using direct mode of address to engage the audience. There is a fire in the background which is lighting Selena, around the sides of the frame it is dark so this creates a warm glow around her as she is the most significant. The dances are used for the choruses.
This is a close up and two shot. This is very intimate and shows Selena singing to a man or in fact the lyrics are about him. The lyrics at this point are 'this love will be the death of me', it is clear there is a romance between the two. Her red lipstick suggests lust and passion again and is quite provocative. Her hair is slightly covering her face which enhances the private intimate moment that we are watching.
This is an underwater shot, a slight low angle however, she is falling out of shot. Also a wide angled close up. This is the next shot from the above, separated by a cut which is sharp and follows the pace of the music. The lyrics are '..will be the death of me' and now Selena is drowning. The water is blue and gives the impression that the water is very cold and uncomfortable, so we sympathise with Selena for how she is feeling emotionally. She is wearing a white dress which is flowing like the water and her body movements are soft to match.
